The first McDonald’s restaurant in a former Soviet Central Asian country will open in Kazakhstan next month.
The restaurant will be located in downtown Astana, the Kazakh capital, and will seat 208 people in a specially constructed building. Its grand opening will be held on 8 March. Qairat Boranbaev, a local businessman, obtained the rights to operate the franchise in Kazakhstan and hopes to open 15 McDonald’s in the country within three years, including one later this year in its largest city, Almaty.
