Beach to Downtown rail opening announced in LA

It’s been over 60 years since coastal Santa Monica was connected by train to Downtown Los Angeles (DTLA)  but finally a date has been announced for the opening of a new train line linking the two.

On 20 May this year, locals will be able to ditch the car and hop on the Expo Line for the 45-minute ride to regenerated DTLA. The line previously ran to Culver City but $1.5 billion and six new stations later and passengers will soon be able to continue a further six and a bit miles to the sand and sea of Santa Monica. The scheme is just one of several aimed at improving LA’s public transport system, including a link between the city and LAX airport.
