Spring has sprung! World events to savour this weekend

Spring is in the air and there are some great events taking place all around the world this weekend. Fashion Week kicks off in London with events taking place all over the city, while Mumbai hosts a midnight bike ride. It’s party time in Melbourne and Barcelona hosts the first Eat Street food festival of 2016.

Mumbai will be hosting its first annual Midnight Cycle Ride that sees intrepid bike-lovers take to their steeds for a night of nocturnal exploration around the city. Mumbai never sleeps, and the tour takes the adventurers through areas that remain busy like Marine Drive, Saifee Hospital and Haji Ali, as well as to Banganga Tank, Malabar Hill and Koliwada. It starts at midnight on Saturday and ends at 7:30 am.

Melbourne’s White Night, the city’s biggest all-night party takes place on Saturday with venues and activities taking place  across the city in the name of culture, arts and general good fun. Indigenous artist Reko Rennie has created a large scale kaleidoscopic light installation, whilst Trip The Light Fantastic – a 12-hour dance choreography – will also be taking place in Federation Square along with many other events including circus acts, archaeological exhibitions and more.

London Fashion Week kicks off this weekend with events taking place all across the city catering to fashionistas and bemused onlookers alike. This year the festival of fashion will be taking place mainly in Soho with its new venue in the uber cool Saatchi Gallery. Along with catwalks a-go-go there will also be events such as Blogging Panel With Frugality and a talk with Natalie Massenet of Net-a-Porter. Tickets are reasonable.

The first Eat Street of 2016 takes place in Barcelona this weekend with a celebration of the street food that’s so important to Barcelona’s vibrant street life. The event takes place from noon until 11 pm in a newly converted warehouse Nau Bostik. Easy on the tastebuds and on the pocket.
