Christiansholm in Copenhagen, also known as Paper Island (Papirøen), is to be given a billion kroner (US$140 million) makeover.
The island was given its nickname owing to the huge warehouses which used to house paper for the Danish press but, in recent years, Christiansholm has become a hotbed for cultural activities and various creative industries. Now the architectural firm Cobe plans to transform the area into an attractive place to visit, live and work, with a series of public halls and spaces, in addition to housing. The project is due to get underway in 2018, with completion slated for 2020. Read more: thelocal.dk
