Sweet but prickly, twin porcupines who were born at the park on February 14 with mum Afreya. They were born to mother Afreya and father Koho at Woodlands Family Theme Park near Dartmouth in Devon.

Model feebee poses as part of art installation “Dazzle room” made by artist Shigeki Matsuyama at Room 32 fashion and design exhibition in Tokyo,  19 Friday. Matsuyama’s installation features a strong contrast of black and white, which he learned from dazzle camouflage used mainly in World War I, in Tokyo.

The sun rises over the house on St Mary’s lighthouse in Whitley Bay, Northumberland, as a cold snap greets the UK before temperatures rebound up to 14C (57.2F) over the weekend as a north-south divide takes hold. The eastern half of England will wake up to temperatures as low as minus 4C (24.8F) before a crisp morning that is dry and clear with a risk of some icy patches on untreated roads.

Four of the Ringling Brothers and Barnum & Bailey Asian elephants, from right, Nicole, Bonnie, Kelly Ann and Karen, enjoy a Philadelphia lunch of 600 soft pretzels (unsalted), 20 loaves of bread, 50 lbs of carrots, 2 crates of apples, box of bananas (30-40 bunches), a box of lettuce and 4 watermelons (their favorite) on Thursday 18 February at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia. The human in the photo is senior elephant trainer Joey Frisco.

Paper lanterns shaped like giant Bugs and Creatures are lit during the Luminous Landscapes: Spring Festival of Light, a three day festival by Liverpool Lantern Company, at the Festival Garden site at Otterspool, Liverpool. During the environmentally themed Lantern Festival the gardens and woodlands will be transformed into an extraordinary and strange luminous landscape.
