Benin's Kidjo wins Grammy for the second year running
For the second year in a row Benin’s Angelique Kidjo has won the Grammy for best world music album of the year.
The winning album was Sings, Kidjo’s Orchestre Philharmonique du Luxembourg collaboration. She dedicated the Grammy to all of Africa’s traditional musicians, and to the continent’s young generation. The music of Africawas clearly well represented at the awards, with three of the five nominees for world music album of the year coming from within its shores, including the unlikely album I Have No Everything Here by Malawi’s Zomba Prison Project.
