Happy Bhutanese hardly have any complaints

Providing further evidence that the people of Bhutan are overwhelmingly happy with their lot, the official complaints portal set up for people to share their grievances over government policy has been used just 20 times since it was established in December 2015.

In fact, most of the messages posted to the portal have been requests for work, with a smaller group of callers asking for help paying off loans. Bhutan famously has the highest national happiness of any nation on earth, and the government conducts an annual Gross National Happiness (GNH) survey in every district of the country to monitor whether people are still content with their quality of life.
