Showcasing work from national and international filmmakers, the festival holds competitive screenings of dramatic and documentary films. The highlight of the event is the Awards Ceremony, in which films are selected by jury members made up of people from around the film industry. Notable for bringing wider attention to independent films, Sundance has featured films like Reservoir Dogs, Donnie Darko and Whiplash. The festival runs through 31 January.
