An opening date of 16 June has been set for the new Shanghai Disney Resort after its planned 2015 opening was delayed.
The Walt Disney Company and its Chinese partner the Shanghai Shendi Group officially confirmed the opening date on Wednesday. Construction on the park began in 2011 but its opening was delayed after Disney decided to expand its plans for the resort. It will feature six themed lands mixing Chinese and traditional Disney elements, a Storybrook Castle similar to those in other Disney theme parks, and a variety of stage shows, including a Mandarin-language performance of The Lion King. Organisers have said the opening will include a multi-day grand opening, though there has been no confirmation as to ticket prices or when tickets will go on sale. Read more: traveldailymedia.com
