Huge West Australia blaze creates own weather system

A bush fire continues to burn out of control in southwest West Australia after devastating the town of Yarloop and heading for Harvey.

The fire is so large it has formed its own weather system. A bushfire emergency warning has also been issued in the southern Perth suburb of Forrestdale. Thunderstorms have brought rain but also lightning and strong winds which have hampered firefighters efforts to bring the blazes under control. A hundred homes have already been burned as well as 58,000 hectares of land. Heavy rain has been forecast for Sunday and more humid conditions should slow the spread of the fire in the interim.  Read more: abc.net.au
