Namibia’s Mile 14 campsite reopens after ten years

Namibia’s once popular Mile 14 campsite and fishing hotspot has been opened for business after almost a decade of closure.

Destroyed by wave erosion and left dilapidated for years, the campsite, which sits on the coast some 18km north of Swakopmund, was a huge favourite for families from Namibia and South Africa. Now dubbed ‘Windpomp 14’ (Windmill 14), Mile 14 now contains 24 campsites with electricity plugs and water taps, as well a host of new facilities such as hot showers, flush toilets and the ‘Barnyard’ pub and grill restaurant.
