Greece plans underwater park near Evia Island

Greece’s culture ministry and local authorities from the island of Evia in the Aegean Sea have unveiled plans for the creation of its first underwater park.

It will be possible to dive around 26 shipwrecks in the area, and the marine park will include Petalioi and Styra isles, Kavalliani and Almyropotamos Bay, Akio island, Makronissos and Laureotiki. The recent discovery of 22 shipwrecks in the eastern Aegean islands, some of them more than 2500 years old, is considered one of the biggest archaeological news in 2015.
