In a week that saw Storm Desmond’s devastation steal the headlines, here’s a selection of videos that show what else was happening, including an ape in hysterics.

It’s an internet trope to say it, but this time it might actually be true – this will make your day. After an orangutan sees a magic trick for the first time, it can’t deal with it and falls backwards, rolling around the floor with laughter, much to the delight of onlookers at the zoo. Who knows if it was laughing because the joke was good or bad?

Eagles Of Death Metal proclaimed “Paris we love you” as they performed in the French capital alongside U2 less than a month after their last concert was cut short by a terrorist attack in which 89 people died. After the gig the band thanked U2 saying they had “reminded us that the bad guys never take a day off, and therefore we rock ‘n rollers cannot either … and we never will.”

A New York train conductor became aware of the fact that the Yale Glee Club was on his train, so he decided to conduct! Bob McDonough wrote on his Facebook page: “I told them I was a conductor, so I must conduct…and somehow they bought it . Did I mention they go to YALE?”

Norwegian couple Johan Kaos and Ida Kvammen Mork have seen a four-minute video round-up of their recent backpacking trip go viral. Posted on YouTube in November and entitled ‘My girlfriend took me backpacking…’ the video has racked up over 460,000 views. The couple have since married.

A video posted to Facebook by Jo Louise in Middlesbrough in the UK shows an old man enjoying the Christmas band on the high street by having a proper dance in front of them. Jo Louise’s caption read: “Awe this is what Xmas is all about” and we couldn’t agree more.
