Tourist arrested for flying camera drone in Cambodia

A tourist from China visiting the Cambodian capital Phnom Penh was arrested on the weekend after flying a drone to take photos of the Royal Palace. The visitor’s drone was confiscated and he was forced to sign an agreement that he would not use a drone again.

Authorities in Phnom Penh last year implemented a ban on using camera drones around significant buildings, including the Royal Palace, though according to Cambodia’s deputy director-general of the State Secretariat of Civil Aviation the country does not have comprehensive guidelines in place regarding the use of drones. In June this year a US citizen and French citizen were arrested after flying a drone over the prime minister’s house to take photos. Read more: phnompenhpost.com
