Delta Air Lines flight 304 from Jamaica to Atlanta reportedly caught fire in its cargo area Monday, and all 160 passengers along with the six crew members were evacuated safely.
Delta personnel reported that no fire was present, however, and that the report was made in error by the flight-deck warning system. The incident occurred at 3:40 PM, shutting down Montego Bay’s Sangster International Airport and causing incoming flights to divert to Norman Manley International Airport in Kingston. Officials are still investigating what could have triggered the alarm.
