Los Angeles has become the USA’s contender for hosting the 2024 summer Olympic Games.
Boston was previously the country’s top choice but worries about the cost to the city caused it to pull out. Now LA, which held the 1932 and 1984 games, has announced it’s a candidate and authorities will put forward a detailed plan by the middle of 2017, likely to favour using existing buildings and city infrastructure rather than building new and expensive venues.
