The dames pipi (peepee ladies) in Paris who have looked after the public toilets in the city for decades are now fighting to keep their jobs in these modern times.
The ladies who work at the last four staffed public toilets in the tourist spots of the Sacré-Coeur, two on the Champs-Élysées and Notre Dame have been to court to battle for their jobs after a Dutch toilet company won a contract to manage the toilets. The company plan to convert them into modern ‘no touch’ facilities and to replace the workers with multilingual staff.
