Edinburgh Fringe Festival's funniest joke winner revealed

The funniest jokes at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival have been chosen by the public. The winner was Darren Walsh, with ‘I just deleted all the German names off my phone. It’s Hans free.’

It beat off competition from Masai Graham, who asked ‘What’s the difference between a hippo and a Zippo? One is really heavy, the other is a little lighter’ and Simon Munnery’s ‘Clowns divorce: custardy battle.’ The jokes were shortlisted by British TV channel Dave and voted on by viewers. The Fringe runs until 31 August, and is the world’s biggest arts festival. Read more: guardian.com
