Hundreds of staff at beach resorts in the Maldives have staged a mass resignation over unpaid wages and allowances.
Around 300 resort workers from Maldivian companies Villa Hotels, J Resorts and AAA Hotels and Resorts have quit their jobs over outstanding wages and other payments. The largest walk-out was at the Holiday Island Resort owned by Villa Hotels. The owners of J Resorts have said that they may have to sell their property at Kuda Rah to cover outstanding wages.
