Stolen Picasso handicraft returned to France from US

The US has returned a Picasso Cubist painting to France that was stolen 14 years ago from a museum in Paris. La Coiffeuse (The Hairdresser) was last seen on display in 1988 in Munich before being returned to the Centre Pompidou in Paris.

The oil painting was then reported stolen in 2001 from the museum’s archives. It was finally discovered in 2014 in a shipment from Belgium to New Jersey labelled as ‘handicrafts’. The painting is valued at almost £10 million. Read more: independent.co.uk
