After a month of heatwaves, Spain has recorded its hottest July ever with average combined day and night temperatures of 26.5C.
Average day temperatures across the month were 2.8C hotter than normal. Central and southeastern Spain notched up the highest temperatures while Galicia and the Cantabrian coast were the coolest areas across the month. During three distinct heatwaves, areas of Andalucia and Valencia and Murcia saw temperatures spike at more than 45C. Read more: thelocal.es
