Tourists cause a stink on Norway's Pulpit Rock

Attracting around 300,000 visitors a year, Pulpit Rock, which overlooks the spectacular Lysefjord, is one of Norway’s most visited natural attractions, but the lack of toilet facilities is causing a stink.

According to a spokesperson at the Pulpit Rock Foundation, people are answering the call of nature wherever they can on the two-hour climb to the summit, and the volume of human excrement is having a major impact on the area, especially in designated camping areas. The Foundation is looking to rectify the problem and hopes to have new toilets installed along the trail in time for next summer. Read more: thelocal.no
