Port Stephens reports dolphin population stable

Port Stephens on the New South Wales coast of Australia reported that its annual dolphin population remains stable with around 90 of the marine mammals living in the bay.

Sixty local volunteers took part in the annual snapshot and the Marine Parks Association says the result is pleasing. “We do get visiting dolphins from up and down the coast,” she said, however “when populations are stable, it means everything is really in check. They’re not at risk of outgrowing what the bay can provide them in terms of food.” Read more: abc.net.au
