Cape Town struck by severe winter weather

The SA Weather Service has warned of flooding around certain areas of Cape Town as the area continues to suffer with heavy rains and strong winds.

Locals and tourists around the Cape Agulhas and Port Alfred areas have been warned of potential 70-80mph gale force winds, and coastal regions between Cape Point and Cannon Rocks could see waves of up to seven metres. Heavy snowfall is predicted in the Sneeuberg, Winterberg and southern Drakensberg areas which could cause disruptions to transport and road accessibility. Meteorologist Lebogang Mashile said that whilst the heavy rains could calm down over Friday residents in the wider Cape Town region can still expect cold conditions to continue over the weekend.
