Chilli vendors around Albuquerque , New Mexico, are firing up their roasters earlier this year after a bumper crop of chillis arrived ahead of schedule.
Many say they’ve never seen a chilli harvest this season. New Mexican chillis are a staple of the local food, which is a fusion of Spanish, Mediterranean, Mexican and Pueblo Native American cuisines. Coming in fresh green or ripened red, the chillis are available at the Albuquerque farmers market in 35lb bags for around $35. Prices should decrease as the harvest matures. Read more: abqjournal.com
