Spain welcomes record number of tourists in first half of 2015

This year Spain has proved more popular than ever with international holidaymakers as 29.2 million visitors flocked to the country’s islands and beaches in the first half of 2015.

This figure does not even include the peak European school holidays period that has only just kicked off in the past couple of weeks. Pictures have emerged showing package-holiday sun-seekers densely packed into Benidorm’s beach, chill-seekers fighting for space at Ibiza’s Cafe del Mar and crowds of sightseers in snaking queues in Barcelona.
