For one night only celebrity chef Masayo Waki will take over a Japanese McDonald’s to serve up a high-end, multi-course menu for an exclusive set of diners.
Around 8,300 people applied but only 10 pairs will be invited to dine at the Roppongi Hills branch in Tokyo which will be renamed ‘Restaurant M’ for the event. A spokesperson declined to reveal what would feature on the menu, but all courses will be prepared using only the ingredients used in McDonalds’ usual offerings. The fine-dining event comes after recent contamination cases which caught major media attention. This isn’t the first time McDonald’s Japan has suffered under contamination issues, but in April the company revealed it could see the closure of 131 stores amounting to massive losses for 2015.
