Disney to wow Asia with new Shanghai experience

Disney is about to wow Asia with a magical new site in Shanghai which will include the largest ever castle in any Disneyland park worldwide.

The US$5.5 billion resort project will become the first ever on mainland China when it opens next year.

Reports indicate that Disney hopes to use its six decades of experience in the US, Europe and elsewhere and mix  it with authentic Chinese components.

There will be six themed lands in Shanghai Disneyland – Mickey Avenue, Tomorrowland, Adventure Isle, Garden of Imagination, Fantasyland and the corporation’s inaugural pirate themed land called Treasure Trove.

The unique selling point in Shangahai will be its iconic Castle that as well as being the biggest, will also be the most interactive at any them park.

Located in Fantasyland, the Enchanted Storybook Castle will also at night be the perfect backdrop for the Disney renowned fireworks displays.

In Tomorrowland, two unique experiences – Star Wars Launch Bay and Marvel Universe – have been specially created for Shanghai.

Two new hotels will feature in the park – the 800-room Toy Story Hotel and the 420-room Shanghai Disneyland Hotel.

Both Dreamworks and Universal are also in the process of developing Chinese attractions.
