The embalmed head of Friedrich Wilhelm Murnau, the director of the influential 1922 Dracula adaptation Nosferatu: a Symphony of Horror, has been stolen from his grave at Stahnsdorf cemetery near Berlin.
The cemetery’s warden made the discovery on Monday, when he found that there had been damage to the deceased man’s coffin. It’s common for fans of Murnau’s work to visit his burial place, and the warden has checked the site regularly after damage was caused in the 1970s. Police are investigating the incident but so far have no clues as to the thieves or their motives. Read more: thelocal.de
