Norway’s southern coast has seen a huge increase in the number of blue stinging jellyfish in recent weeks.
Although this is bad news for swimmers, Norwegian marine biologist Jan Helge Fosså believes the growth in the jellyfish population indicates an improvement in the health of the marine ecosystem. While a sting from the animals can be painful for swimmers, a number of species, such as blowfish, are dependent on them for survival. Read more: thelocal.no
