Paris mayor promises Seine will be ready for swimmers by 2024
The Seine river in Paris has been off limits to swimmers since a ban was imposed in 1923 but now the city’s mayor, Anne Hidalgo, promises that it will be ready for swimmers again by 2024 to coincide with the Olympic Games, which she hopes Paris will be hosting.
Currently anyone caught swimming in the Seine faces a fine of €15 but the mayor’s wish is for the swimming leg of the triathlon to be held in the Seine if Paris is successful in its bid to host the Games. Read more: telegraph.co.uk
