Sweden to increase mountain safety information for English-speaking visitors

The Mountain Safety Council of Sweden is to increase the amount of information about mountain safety available in English, following a huge increase in the number of travellers heading to the mountains in the country.

As part of the initiative, more signage will be added to trails and all mountain shelters will provide guidelines about things to take on hikes, as well as providing journals so visitors can record their planned route to help track them in case of emergencies. Around 800,000 people are expected to visit Sweden’s mountains in 2015, 20% of whom will be foreign visitors. Read more: thelocal.se
