Pedestrian lights across Munich, Germany, are getting a makeover for the annual Christopher Street Day (Gay Pride) celebrations this weekend.
Instead of a single figure, the lights will highlight love equality by featuring gay, lesbian and heterosexual couples. The initiative was championed by the city council’s Green Party politicians, and was given the go-ahead despite a €10,000 price tag and opposition from the Christian Social Union (CSU). The happy couples will remain in place for the duration of the celebrations, and there are already plans for similar lights in Hamburg. Read more: the local.de
