Tourist slammed for holding protected turtle in Sabah selfie

A tourist has been slammed on social media for posting photos of himself holding a protected turtle species out of the water at an island believed to be in the Semporna district of eastern Sabah, Malaysian Borneo. The photo, together with others including that of an unidentified tourist with a clown fish and puffer fish on his palm, is reportedly being investigated by the Sabah Wildlife Department following complaints. All species of sea turtle are either endangered or threatened; handling them is generally illegal. Read more: straitstimes.com
