The Studio Museum in Harlem , New York, is going to be getting a brand new US$122 million home on West 125th Street it has been announced.
The museum exhibits works of African American artists and has been housed in a building dating from 1914 for many years, and now, as the museum’s director and curator Thelma Golden says, it’s time to move on. The new space will be designed by British architect David Adjaye, whose projects also include the under-construction National Museum of African American History in Washington. Designs for the building give the museum more than 70,000 sq ft of space, which will be an increase of 10,000 on the current museum. Read more: nytimes.com
