USA overcome Japan in Women's World Cup final

After beating Japan 5-2 on Sunday, the US women’s soccer team ended a 16-year World Cup trophy drought. Taking place in Vancouver, BC, the final against Japan was clinched by Carli Lloyd when she completed a hat trick in the first 16 minutes of the game. It was the fastest hat trick in World Cup history. This year’s win avenges the 2011 World Cup, when the US lost against Japan in a penalty shootout. Read more: cnn.com
