End of an era as Barcelona’s iconic Vinçon store closes down

Barcelona’s beloved furniture and home store Vinçon has shut its doors for the last time after falling victim to Spain’s economic crisis.

The store, which has been wowing locals and tourists alike on Barcelona’s Passeig de Gràcia for 74 years, was synonymous with good contemporary design but in recent years sales have suffered thanks to stiffer competition from cheaper rivals and online trade. It originally opened as a space for local artists and designers to display their work and was considered to be an icon of Barcelonin culture. Read more: theguardian.com
