19th century Rio mansion becomes urban art space

A Rio de Janeiro mansion built in 1879 has been refurbished as the new headquarters for the GaleRio urban arts center.

Located on Rua São Clemente in Botafogo, the space is the first municipal gallery for urban art in the city. The 350 square metre colonial home features an exhibition space and rooms for classes and meetings. The aim of the centre is to foster a space for the exchange of ideas among artists, collectives and social entrepreneurs in Rio. Read more: riotimesonline.com
