Many dead as landslides hit hills around Darjeeling
At least 20 people have been killed by landslides in Darjeeling since the weekend.
Triggered by heavy monsoon rain, the landslips have blocked roads and buried houses in the hills around the popular hill station and tourist resort. The worst devastation has been caused by liquid mud flows, which have engulfed whole villages, and more fatalities have been reported from Kalimpong and other parts of the West Bengal hills.
