Spain: could this be the world’s oldest fossil?

A 500-million-year-old trilobite fossil discovered in Salamanca, Spain, is being touted as the newest world’s oldest fossil.

The fossil was discovered in the village of La Rinconada de la Sierra by a team of experts working for Unesco. The ocean-dwelling anthropod is thought to be about 520 million years old and until this discovery had only been found in Serbia, Morocco and the border between Mexico and the US.
