Vietnam to build major new international airport

A large new international airport is slated to be constructed outside Ho Chi Minh City, following a government resolution approving the project. The new hub – Long Thanh International Airport – will be located about 40km northeast of Ho Chi Minh City and will be able to handle 38 million passengers each year when it begins operating in 2025. The airport is designed to take 100 million passengers a year by 2050. There are hopes the new airport will become a regional transit hub similar to those in Hong Kong and Singapore.
