Iberian lynx no longer on the critically endangered list

The International Union for Conservation of Nature has removed the Iberian lynx from its critically endangered species list after measures to revive the population across Iberia proved successful. After years in decline, the steady increase in Spanish and Portuguese populations has been hailed a significant achievement. Conservation efforts have been led by the joint Spanish-Portuguese Life-Iberlince programme, which has been working to restore distribution of the population and increase the number of reproductive females since 2011.
