Porcupine proves too much of a meal for python

A 3.9m-long African rock python in KwaZulu-Natal’s Lake Eland Game Reserve, which had made a splash on social media last week after being spotted on a popular cycling trail, has died after ingesting a large porcupine. The reserve manager said they’d thought the meal could have been a young impala or a warthog when they first observed the massive snake. However, in the next 24 hours it only moved 90 degrees or so, and several days later the python died. It was only after the dissection of the reptile that the prickly discovery was made.
