Maasai warriors turn to hairdressing in Dar es Salaam

The traditional Maasai braiding of hair is proving very popular amongst Tanzanians, and several Maasai warriors are taking advantage of the trend by becoming hairdressers in Dar es Salaam. Many members of the tribe, which is a culture traditionally centred on livestock farming, moved to the city to look for work due to the lack of rain over the northern plains of Tanzania. When some of them discovered that salons were trying to mimic their hairstyles, they decided set up their own hairdressing stalls. Read more: bbc.co.uk
