California’s beaches benefit from drought

There’s not a lot of good news associated with California’s severe drought but one positive has come out of the dire situation – cleaner beaches. The dramatic drop in rainfall over the past years has led to less polluted runoff from fields and rivers reaching the state’s famous sands. Heal the Bay, the organisation who aims to protect and improve California’s coastline, has issued its ‘Beach Report Card’ which gives 95% of beaches an A or B grade. Read more: healthebay.org
