Twitchers flock to Cape Town for snowy egret

Hundreds of South African birdwatchers have been flocking to Cape Town over the past week to set their eyes on an unusual avian visitor. The fuss revolves around some snowy egrets that were spotted along the Black River close to the Raapenberg bird hide. The species is not usually seen outside the Americas, and these sightings mark just the second time they’ve been spotted in Cape Town. The last known landings were in Zandvlei, Muizenberg in May 2002. Read more: news24.com
