Ukraine gets first community-backed restaurant

The first community-backed restaurant in Ukraine, called Urban Space, has opened in the town of Ivano-Frankivsk, which is a popular gateway for the Carpathian Mountains in western Ukraine. It has 100 paying founding members, and will spend at least 80% of its income on social projects such as redesigning city parks and building new bike paths. The restaurant also holds free events such as film screenings. It is vegetarian-friendly and has an English-language menu, and has already become popular with tourists as well as businesspeople.
