Street art festival brings giant murals to Istanbul

Street artists from around the world descended on Istanbul over the weekend to kick off the city’s third Mural-Ist Festival in Kadiköy district. The festival aims to bring a splash of colour to grey walls across the neighbourhood and this year artists have travelled from countries including Spain, Russia and the US to take part in the giant mural-painting session. The paintings will be revealed intermittently over the next three months, with the final piece of street art due to be unveiled on the Kadiköy Municipality building in September as the festival draws to a close.
