‘Ancient’ tree only half the age it used to be

Redwoods are synonymous with northern California and are known to live for centuries, but scientists have discovered that one such tree in hugely popular Muir Woods, just north of San Francisco, has been lying about its age. The giant tree was previously thought to be around 1300 years old but new tests show it’s actually only a relatively young 777. Read more: sfgate.com
