Tanzanian bus strike strands tourists and locals

Bus drivers across Tanzania went on strike on Monday, paralyzing business and travel services across the country and leaving tens of thousands of locals and tourists stranded. Drivers were striking to oppose new regulations that limit the speed of upcountry buses to 80km/h and demand mandatory driving course for all drivers during license renewal. Other issues sited were the country’s poor transport facilities and corruption from the security and government authorities. Previously, the government of Tanzania has been accused of failing to curb the number of road accidents, which kill an approximately 4000 people every year. Read more: eturbonews.com
